The Future of Diamondhenge

My journey into game development began decades ago, and bringing Diamondhenge to where it is today has been a long road filled with patience, persistence, and hard work. Along the way, I faced countless physical and mental challenges. That’s why I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that the success of Attorney of the Arcane has been truly life-changing for me.

I have a lot I want to do with Diamondhenge. So here are some plans I have in store for the future:

  • I had to cut a lot of ideas out of Attorney of the Arcane due to time and financial constraints. Furthermore, the code I made for it encountered a lot of unforeseen issues (mainly on mobile). Because of that, I’ve been planning and working on an update to Attorney of the Arcane which I’m hoping to include the following:

    • Additional story scenes to better expand on character

    • Revisions to some of the older character sprites

    • Rewritten dialogue

    • Slight restructuring of certain cases and story beats

    • A complete overhaul of the mystery in Case 3

    • Better color balance and effects for characters and backgrounds

    • Better designed UI

    • The ability to upload and use fan translations on the Steam Workshop

    • Console release (I’m still very iffy on this, and I’m currently speaking with representatives to understand how difficult this will be)

  • Beyond the Arcane (The sequel to Attorney of the Arcane)

  • Tyrion 3 (End of the Tyrion Cuthbert Trilogy)

  • Arthur Ashford: Freelancer of the Arcane

    • A mystery visual novel that takes place in an urban fantasy setting.

    • Gameplay will be similar to Attorney of the Arcane, but with some mechanics focused on magical combat.

    • Art assets are currently being developed by another art team.

  • Spinoff for Aria Steelwind

    • With our current plans, I feel like the Tyrion Cuthbert trilogy will mainly focus on the character journeys of Tyrion and Celeste. Because of that, I think I would like for Aria to get her own series to let her develop and properly process the things that happened in Attorney of the Arcane.

    • This series may not be a courtroom visual novel.

    • Development will start after Beyond the Arcane is released.

  • Spinoff for Beatrice Frega

    • This series definitely won’t be a courtroom visual novel.

    • Development will start after Beyond the Arcane is released.

  • Heaven or Hell

    • A tactical JRPG with gameplay inspired by Fire Emblem, Disgaea, and Final Fantasy Tactics.

    • Takes place in a modern world inspired by Shonen anime.

    • Currently in very early preproduction

I will be using these additional projects as an opportunity to add other freelancers to the Diamondhenge team. These projects are being developed independently from Beyond the Arcane and will have no effect on the sequel’s development.
