Tyrion Cuthbert: Beyond the Arcane

Hi, everyone!

I apologize for the lack of updates on Tyrion 2. There's been an unfortunate delay on the development of the character sprites, which will most definitely delay the final release date of the game. Because of that, I'm very wary of committing to a solid release date at this moment. However, I will be sure to make a post here once I know for certain.

Other than that, we’re making good progress on the development of Tyrion 2. The plot of Beyond the Arcane (we’re still work-shopping this name) has been mostly decided, but I’ve been keeping a lot of details hidden so as not to spoil the game’s plot before it even releases. However, I know a lot of you have been hungry for more information about what lies next for Tyrion, so here are some things I’m willing to confirm:

  • The plot of Beyond the Arcane will be centered on a worldwide conspiracy that involved Tyrion’s late mother and the Theocracy of Lumina. With Frey Cuthbert at the center of this mystery, Tyrion will be embarking on a world-spanning investigation to uncover who his mother really was, why she fled to Wyverngarde, and why the powers that be seem to be so interested in his newly awakened abilities.

  • The murder trials will be held and mediated by the Ordo Astralis: an international peacekeeping organization led by Archsentinel Miles Varyn kal Galad.

  • The game will feature a new prosecutor. Illia Stormwake, as seen in the gif above, is the High Inquisitor of the Theocracy of Lumina and the superior of most of the world’s heavensborn. While she usually has a carefree personality, she displays a ruthless pursuit of victory and will do whatever it takes to serve her people.

  • The game will feature five cases with High Inquisitor Stormwake acting as the prosecutor for most of the cases.

  • Due to the plot developments at the end of Attorney of the Arcane, Celeste McCoy will no longer be able to accompany Tyrion on his investigations. Begrudgingly, Tyrion will be enlisting the help of Miriam Frega: who will be acting as his companion and serve as his method of transport throughout the world.

  • Wyverngarde has always maintained a position of isolationism. Throughout most of its history, travel in and out of Wyverngarde has been heavily restricted. The only people capable of leaving the nation were a select few of the nobility, the foreign merchants who traded with them, and a few distinct vagrants who traveled in and out of the kingdom illegally.

  • In particular, the Church of Bahamut has always maintained that magic was a divine gift from the Scaled Lord. With Wyverngarde’s new leadership, however, knowledge of the other kingdoms and their magic are now widely known. Each of the world’s nations that Tyrion will visit will have their own unique flavors of magic. Attorney of the Arcane’s magic system was inspired by a certain tabletop role-playing game, and we’ll be using the different nations to explore types of magic beyond the arcane spells featured in the first game. These spells will include:

    • Psionic Magic

    • Druidic/Ki Magic

    • Divine Magic

    • Artificery

  • Right now, I can confirm that the following characters will be returning: Orym White, Alaric de Wyverngarde, Rathallion, Aria Steelwind, Beatrice Frega, and Miriam Frega.
